Designed drop area
Establishing exclusion zones when using explosives in demolition, Construction Information Sheet No 45, published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) defines a designed drop area as: ‘the area where the bulk of the structure is designed to drop (ie, the area covered by the main debris pile which will include the plan area).'
Where the plan area is: ‘…the plan area of the structure that is to be demolished.’
